"God’s garden “Let Us”
Hebrews 4;-3 “...Since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.— For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them, but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter my rest although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.”
We have the promise of God; we shall enter into His rest if we are faithful, believing in His word and following the teaching of the word. The children of Israel did not have that faith in Him and therefore did not have His rest because they had idols, making their own gods and bowing down and worshiping them. Their unbelief kept that generation that escaped Egypt from entering Canaan. Therefore unbelief will make us fall short of the rest God has for us.
“Believers today may enter and enjoy their inheritance in Christ. We must be careful lest we fail to believe God’s Word, for it is only as the Word is mixed with faith that it can accomplish its purposes.” (Warren Wiersbe”) It only takes faith, believing in the word of God, not in our works. We live in a present world with many challenges and distractions that take away from our ability to rest. We must set aside some quality time alone with the Lord in prayer and His word. It is also important to spend time with our families and friends. God loves us and wants what is best for us in this world of constant work and worry. In Psalms 46:10 God says” Be still, and know I am God,” He wants us to relax and leave our worries with Him, having faith in His ability to take care of us. “Rest time is not waste time. It is economy to gather fresh strength.. it is wisdom to take occasional furlough. In the long run, we shall do more by sometimes doing less.”(Charles Spurgeon)
Let us then follow the teaching of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior with faith and a time of rest will come to us. Let us “Be still and know He is God” and He is still on the throne, still caring for us.
Have a blessed week seeking the rest and peace of God the Father.
